A New Favourite Red Lipstick

It's no secret that I'm a fan of a good red lipstick every now and again . Last Autumn/Winter time my red lip of choice was my MAC lipstick in the shade MAC Red, however when this Autumn rolled around and I went to dig out my trusty lipstick, I found myself feeling slightly disappointed. Not with the formula or longevity (they were still as good as I remembered) but because I just didn't feel as though the shade really suited me, I actually began to wonder how I'd worn it so many times and never noticed this before! This little predicament meant that there was very much a space in my life for a new red lipstick...introducing the L'Oreal Colour Riche Exclusive Reds Lipstick in Blake's Red.
I had heard so many good reviews about this product, and it didn't take me long to be persuaded that I needed this in my life. Added to which, being the Gossip Girl fan that I am (I know, we all know this by now haha!) a Blake Lively lipstick is right up my street.  I was ever so slightly sceptical however because I have only ever tried one L'Oreal lipstick before which I didn't really like very much, I found that it didn't apply nicely and was extremely drying. Despite this I decided to try out this product anyway, and I'm so glad I did.
Firstly, I find the colour far more flattering that my MAC one to be, this could be to do with the fact  that I have a similar fair skin with blue eyes and blonde hair as Blake...or it could just be coincidence. The product applies so nicely, it glides on your lips so easily, and although the formula is matte, it doesn't settle into any dry patches or leave you with chapped lips at the end of the day. The staying power of this product has also impressed me, I'd say it's still going strong after about 2-3 hours. However I have found that it needs reapplying after I've eaten, which I can kind of come to expect with a bright lip anyway.
Overall this product has quickly become a new favourite of mine. Although it's the higher end of the highstreet product range, I still feel as though it's a great, affordable red lipstick, it could definitely save you a few pennies instead of splashing out on a high end lipstick!

A Haul Full of Lip Products

Lately I've found myself craving a few new shades to add to my lipstick collection, I don't know whether it's because of the change in the season, or whether I'm just looking for a good reason to justify my purchases. But it was inevitable being the beauty addict that I am, that before long I'd have accumulated a few new lip products.

So, lets start with the L'Oreal Colour Riche Exclusive Reds in Blake's Red,  (possibly the longest product name I've ever heard). This is the product I was most excited to try, we all know how much of a Gossip Girl fan I am, and although Blair Waldorf is my ultimate style icon (maybe excluding those infamous coloured tights...) I'm still just excited at the prospect of a Blake Lively makeup product. I'm only going to be brief about this product as I plan on writing a full post about it, but in short I haven't been disappointed, it is a lovely shade, with amazing pigmentation, and a long lasting finish.

Next up is the Max Factor Colour Elixir Lip Liner in Pink Princess, lip liner is actually one of those things that I'm never really too drawn towards, and consequently I own very few of. I'm not going to lie, the packaging of this product really grabbed my attention, it has such a luxurious look to it with the contrast of the gold and the colour of the product. When I picked this up, I found that the colour is really nice, and in my opinion quite unusual. It's a fairly mid-nude pink, which actually had an element to it which still managed to some how remind me of darker plumy shades, perfect for the autumn time.

I've also picked up the Maybelline Colour Drama Lipstick in Berry Much, I actually had it in mind to buy the shade Keep it Classy, but when I went into Superdrug it wasn't there, and I spotted the shade Berry Much, so as I'd been after a new plum colour, I picked this shade up instead. I can't really say much about the formula as I have only tried it once so far, but I do kind of regret not waiting and buying the shade I was looking for in the first place, as I'm really sure that the colour of Berry Much suits me. However I am going to be trying this out again so who knows, the colour may grow on me.

Finally, after finding inspiration from seeing my sister get the No.7 lipstick match test done, I decided to do the sisterly thing, and follow her lead.  I only intended on buying one of these lipsticks, but was swayed by an offer that they had on and bought two, which were the No.7 Stay Perfect Lipstick in Raspberry Blush, and the No.7 Moisture Drench Lipstick in Rose Dream. I've been impressed with these so far, their pigmentation is particularly good, and again they are very long lasting.

That's everything in my haul, it's been all round pretty successful, but has also marked the beginning of a possible spending ban haha. Thanks for reading, and keep your eyes peeled for individual posts about some of these products!

An Autumnal Eyeshadow Palette

An Autumnal Eyeshadow Palette

I have been craving a new eyeshadow palette for a while now, and  after a recent peruse in the makeup aisles, that little eyeshadow shaped hole in my life has been filled by the Estee Lauder eyeshadow palette in Enchanted Berries. This palette feels very appropriate for the time of year, with Autumn well and truly on its way these berry hues make a perfect addition to my makeup bag.

I feel as though this palette can cater for everything through having a satin, metallic, matte, and two shimmer finishes, and shades ranging from light to dark which can be worn in a number of different ways. My favourite combination of colours is the light lilacy purple all over the lid, with the darker purple at the bottom of the palette blended into the crease and out corner,  finished off with the lightest shade to highlight, liquid liner and a good amount of mascara.  The pigmentation of the shadows are good, but mostly they are blend really nicely, in particular the plum shade at the bottom of the palette.

I initially felt a little scared of the purple tones in this product, I'm not going to lie, I was worried that they'd wash me out, and just generally make me look ill, however after applying the shadows I didn't feel that way. They look a little daring in the pan, but once they're on the lids, they don't seem quite so much of an obvious, in your face purple colour. This palette was a little bit of a splurge, but everyone needs to treat themselves every once in a while right?

Recently Read: Mrs Harris Goes to Paris

Recently Read: Mrs Harris Goes to Paris

I'm one of those people who loves to read, I always have, I always will. I find that I tend to get through books a lot quicker in the summer, there's something so lovely and peaceful about being sat out in the sunshine with a good book. My recent summertime read has been a cute little book called Mrs Harris Goes to Paris.

This book is an easy, light read which centres around an elderly maid in London named Ada Harris. Whilst cleaning one of her employers house's one day Mrs Harris stumbles across an original Dior dress, which she immediately becomes mesmerised by. So much so, that she decides she must own one of her very own. After her hard work and saving, the story follows Mrs Harris's adventure alone from her home in London to the city of Paris in search for her much desired Dior dress. I love how uplifting this book is, it includes some lovely friendships, acts of kindness, and a strong willed woman following her dream. If you looking for a quick easy read, this book is definitely worth taking a look at.
